About
Christina Miesen has been illustrating for a long time and writing for half of that. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, which is apparently a decent place to live according to some surveys.
Christina is partial to winter and also doesn’t mind summer. Sometimes she runs but that’s very rare and it’s only if someone is chasing her. Most of all she likes a good laugh, it’s much better than a bad one.
Christina studied Graphic Design at Swinburne University, and went on to become an illustrator.
Her work has featured in numerous magazines and books since 1993.
Illustrating
Back in the day, Christina painted with paint that came out of tubes, and with ink that came out of bottles, and used to use cold-pressed paper all the way from France. Which by the way she bought from art shops in Melbourne. Now she uses a stylus pen and tablet and photoshop or illustrator to create illustrations.
Writing
Christina likes to write with humour and to be honest has tried to write a serious book but it never worked out. She got as far as the beginning of the second chapter and that’s a serious story that was never completed.
Her story ideas come from nowhere in particular and she never quite knows how her stories will end until finishes them. She never writes about people she knows because then she would have to change all the names in the story. She likes to make up names of the pets in her books too, because otherwise a random dog or cat reading one of her stories might think it’s about them, when really it’s not.
